Salon Olivine

With an abundance of daylight from the salon’s generous ceiling height windows revealing the interior architecture’s clean lines, warm natural materials, and quiet luxurious finishes—the design team needed quality luminaires that would complement the aesthetic, while supporting the salon’s functional performance. 

Seeing minute detail is critical when working with hair color and skin tone, and so the luminaires needed to meet a high technical standard. The project’s lighting agency, Optics Lighting & Controls, chose Fluxwerx Portal Surface fixtures for their uniform light distribution, superior color accuracy and chromaticity, and reduced glare for guest and stylist comfort. In 90 CRI, Portal Surface ensures accurate color rendering, helping stylists clearly distinguish the various shades of hair tone.

The fixture’s size options, beam angle, and color temperature create consistency throughout the space. With a circular light beam, Portal Surface adds a beautiful, repetitive design element that both draws the eye and complements the daylight—without sacrificing the varied lighting needs for product display, ambient light, and the all important stylist task lighting. 

At the shampoo sinks, stylists required precise task lighting, while delivering a relaxing guest experience.  With 20/80 light distribution providing visual comfort and exceptional work plane uniformity from all viewing angles, the radial Anidolic optics of the Fluxwerx Loop Suspended luminaire surpassed the needed complex lighting requirements. The result is optimal lighting for the stylists and a peaceful guest experience.
